An explorative satirical criticism of social media through branding oneself on an online platform.
Created in 2018 to critique the state of social media at that time, the video is a trailer to a hypothetical YouTube channel: "ThePatriciaLife". It is an envision of what lifestyle vloggers could become in the future, exaggerating the production of YouTubers as brands and the different personas they portray in order to reach a wide audience.
This channel promotes an idyllic lifestyle which its viewers aspire to achieve, all-encompassing lifestyle. The studio “panel show” setting emphasises the contrived nature of YouTube content as it ebbs toward a platform full of generic, performative characters.
Created using physical green screen and post-production via Adobe AfterEffects and Premiere Pro, I also acted the roles of the multiple characters, emphasising the unhinged 'cringe' factor often seen on these channels.
