A long-term personal project exploring the theme of insecurity, which began with extensive primary research, including appointments at various clinical centres. Entering these uncertain situations provoked an interest in interaction amongst strangers, and the unease triggered by the unknown.
Are you sitting comfortably? is the manifestation of this project in an installation and performance piece: a simulated waiting area and consultation room, with myself taking on the part of the doctor in a live performance. Interactivity and authenticity are key elements in order to evoke a response of uncertainty from participants; it aims to make the audience self-aware and reflect on their perceptions of insecurity.
